SBI Changed IFSC Codes of 1300 Branches

In 2017, SBI has had some of the major changes like the merger with its five associate banks and now its decision to change the IFSC codes of 1300 branches. The Managing Director Praveen Gupta announced this in an interview with PTI that since some of the old associate banks are getting merged with SBI branches, the IFSC codes are also going to change. It is important to note that the country’s largest lender has names and IFSC codes of the branches located in major cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Lucknow among others.

New IFSC Codes List for SBI Bank

State Bank of India (SBI) merged with five of its associate banks from April 1, 2017 onwards. Now, India’s largest lender has decided to change the IFSC codes of its 1300 branches. The associate banks that merged with SBI are State Bank of Mysore (SBM), State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur (SBBJ), State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH), State Bank of Travancore (SBT), and State Bank of Patiala (SBP). Thus, the IFSC codes of these banks have changed and the customers will have to follow the new codes.

Indian Financial System Code, known as IFSC code, is an 11-digit alphanumeric code that helps uniquely identify bank branches. It has been said that however, the customers will have no trouble while using services like online transfer of money where IFSC code is required.

The customers of SBI should also note that now only 21 days are left to get new SBI chequebooks for its merged banks. The last date to use the old chequebooks is December 31, 2017.
