United Bank of India is a leading public sector bank in India which has created a legacy for itself in the banking arena. The bank was nationalized in the year 1969 on July 19 along with other 13 banks. The bank came into existence when four other banks were amalgamated together in 1950. These four banks were Comilla Banking Corporation Ltd., Hooghly Bank Ltd., Bengal Central Bank Ltd., and Comilla Union Bank Ltd. The bank is headquartered in the city of Kolkata in West Bengal.
