About Bank of Baroda

It is always interesting to check the history of a bank, isn't it. And when you are about to study a bank as big as Bank of Baroda (BoB), the interest level is on the higher side. The bank was founded by Maharaja of Baroda and Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in June 1908 in a small building in Baroda. It would leave you by a surprise to know that the royals laid the bricks of BoB. Normally, it's the big businessmen who do such stuff. But such was the time that led these fine emperors to establish Bank of Baroda.

Post-establishment, the bank was doing reasonably well until 1969 when the Government of India woke up and nationalized it as well as 13 other banks. As soon as that incident took place, the fate of the bank turned as it started becoming the favourite of the masses. The reason being its a wide and unique product offering that delivers on the promise. It dominates literally every vertical of banking. Not only retail clients and small entrepreneurs, even the top corporates can find suitable products to achieve their financial goals.

Also what Bank of Baroda has done well is to draw the game in its favour by understanding the nerves of the people. It is this trait that has helped the PSU bank to deliver products that are fine tuned to meet the requirements of the masses. You would very well that the bank has recently cut its home loan rates to the lowest of 8.35% per annum in the industry. The move assumes enormous significance at a time when the heavyweights of the game were constantly cutting rates to lure the customers. Also, by making switchover fee for customers shifting the home loan balance from base rate to MCLR redundant, the bank has played its cards well in a space wherein the fight for the rate cut is ever so intense thanks to demonetization.

The bank has also made sure its reach is far and wide with time. And as a result, it now has over 6,000 branches as many as 1,000 ATMs in India. Bank of Baroda is now a global banker with well over 100 branches that spread across 25 countries, which include the biggies the US and Australia. Also, it covers important regions like Dubai and Hong Kong to expand its operations.

Come to Patna and you will find a good number of Bank of Baroda branches. From Bailly Road to Digha, it has branches placed at all important locations of Patna, the capital city of Bihar.
