Dena Bank is one of the eminent public sector banks which was founded by Devkaran Nanjee and his family on 26 ^th May 1938 under the name Devkaran Nanjee Banking Company Ltd. Later on, it became a Public Ltd. Company in 1939 and its name got changed to Dena Bank Ltd. In July 1969 Dena Bank Ltd. along with 13 other banks was nationalized and Mumbai became its headquarters. The bank was chosen by the World Bank in the year 1995 for disbursing the loan amount of ₹72.3 Crores under Financial Sector Development project which has made the bank technologically upgraded. The bank constituted its presence through 1,773 branch networks and some of the branches occupy Indore city as well. The bank engages itself to provide various types of products and services in the form of loans, deposits, internet banking, corporate banking,international banking, priority lending including small & medium enterprises services. Among them, a fixed deposit is one such preferred deposit which is widely accessible by people of Indore and other regions as well.

Fixed deposit, also known as term deposit offered by banks where the amount invested gets blocked for a definite period of time in order to yield returns. • Dena Savifix Deposit Scheme: a deposit scheme which has the characteristics of a savings account and also a fixed deposit account.

• Dena Samrudhhi Deposit Scheme : a deposit scheme which calculates compound interest every quarter providing a higher yield.

• Dena Freedom Deposit Scheme : a scheme where a cheque book is issued to the customer permitting him/her to withdraw upto 90% of the deposit anytime he/she wants.

• Dena Cash Certificate: a deposit which permits the customer to withdraw the final value realized on maturity. The initial deposit amount is ascertained at the time of maturity value selected and rate of interest applicable at the time of purchase.

• Dena Senior Citizen Scheme : a deposit scheme available for senior citizens who have completed 60 years of age.

• Online Term Deposit Scheme: a term deposit which can be purchased online through the bank’s internet banking facility.

  2. The eligibility criteria for Dena Maha Tax Bachat Yojna is as follows:

  • Minimum Lock-in period should be of 5 years.
  • Minimum size of deposit per receipt must be ₹ 1 lakh through a single deposit receipt.
  • Senior Citzens will get an additional interest rate of 0.50% over and above card rate except NRI Deposits.
