About Jammu and Kashmir Bank

Jammu and Kashmir were formed in the year 1938 and was operational in the year 1939. It was formed under the letter patent issued by the Maharaja Hari Singh. He called many eminent investors to be part of the venture and be the shareholder. So, the bank was initially one of the Semi- government bank which was funded by the capital contributed by Government and people that are under government control. During the partition in 1947, two branches out of 10 in Kashmir fell on the other side of the line of control due to which the bank has to face a lot of financial loss. All the cash and other assets in both the branch were lost. But it became stable with time and was included as the government bank according to the extension of the central law to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The bank has grown in leaps and bound to spread its network in the country. It has the total of 865 branches and 1035 ATMs in the entire country.
