About Jammu and Kashmir Bank

Jammu and Kashmir bank was formed in the year 1938 in the state under the issued letter patent by the Maharaja Hari Singh. It is one of the first banks in the state which was one of its kind. It was kind of the Semi- government bank. The bank was formed before the independence and has suffered a huge loss during the period of partition It suffered huge financial loss as two of the ten branches were situated on the opposite side of the line of control. The branches had all the cash and other assets that were lost. The bank effectively recovered the loss. Later a per the extension of the central law to the state, it was considered as the government property.

The aim to open the branch in the state was to provide the financial option to the people of the state. Later it extended its branches in the other parts of the country. I t has the total of 865 branches all over India. The bank has now opened the branches in all over India and tries to provide the international quality products to the people of the country. The bank wants to capitalize on the growth and catalyze the economic transformation. The main objective of the bank is to become the super specialist bank for its customer.
