About Jammu and Kashmir Bank

Jammu and Kashmir bank is one of the growing banks in India. The bank was set up in the year 1938. It was first of its kind and was called as the Semi-governmental bank. It was formed under the letters patent issued by Maharaja Hari Singh. He invited the eminent personality and dignitaries to invest in the company and become the directors and stakeholder of the company. The bank became functional in the year 1939. It suffered a huge financial loss at the time of Partition. Its two branches out of ten fell on the other side of the border or line of control. The main aim to set up the bank was to make the financial solutions available to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Later the extension of the central law to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the status of the bank changed. It became the government company according to the Indian companies act of 1956.

The bank has now extended its presence in the country and opened branches in the entire country. It has currently around 864 branches and 1035 ATMs across the country. The main aim of the bank is to fulfill the financial requirements of the people in the state. The bank is now the sponsor of J&K Grameen Bank. It is still standing strong and increasing its hold in the different states as well. The bank aims to become the super specialist bank for the entire nation. It wants to capitalize on growth and catalyze the economic transformation. The bank has inculcated the latest technology for the convenient banking for the customers. Its mission is to be the preferred bank for the people across the country.
