About United Bank of India

United Bank of India is one of the 14 banks in India, which were nationalised in the year 1969 on July 19. The bank was formed when amalgamation of four banks took place in the year 1950. The banks which belonged to the pre-independence era were Comilla Banking Corporation, Bengal Central Bank, Comilla Union Bank and Hooghly Bank. The origin of the back actually dates back to 1914 when Comilla Banking Corporation was actually formed. After nationalisation, the bank started leading from the front and expanded banking facilities in the eastern and north-eastern parts of the country. No other bank can match United Bank of India, when it comes to developing banking sector in these areas. The bank participated with full zeal in every developmental activity specially the rural and semi-urban belt complying with the objectives of nationalisation.

United Bank of India has its main head office in the city of joy- Kolkata in West Bengal. It has three overseas branches which are located in the metro cities of India, viz Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai. It has more than 2000 branches spread across different states in the country. The bank has a strong presence in the rural eastern region and has always taken key steps to help the people in any case of financial emergency.
