Not to Miss Budget Sites in Hong Kong!

With the pricey image of Hong Kong, most of us might not believe that it has multiple budget friendly sights to explore. But, there are many beautiful budget places like the world-known ‘Symphony of Lights’, ‘Jumbo Kingdom’, etc. Hong Kong is uniquely beautiful and not always costly. These nearly-free destinations are convenient to travel via MTR or Star Ferry making it cheaper as well.

So, pen down these destinations for your next Hong Kong trip and experience the beauty in free!

Symphony of Lights

Hong Kong is popular for the ‘Symphony of Light’ show-World’s Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show. This nightly multimedia of coloured lights, laser beams and searchlights involving more than 40 buildings on both sides of the harbour. There are five main themes of this show: Awakening, Energy, Heritage, Partnership, and the finale, Celebration.

Cost: No Charges

How to reach:

1. Take the MTR to East Tsim Sha Tsui station (TST side) or to Wan Chai station (Island side).

2. Take the star ferry to Central-Wan/ Chai/TST ferry piers.

Jumbo Kingdom-the Floating Restaurants

The Jumbo Kingdom comprises of two restaurants-Jumbo Floating Restaurant and Tai Pak Floating Restaurant connected with through the bridge. The restaurant works on first come first serve basis.

Cost: Main dishes-Rs 1600/- to Rs 4000/- & Dim Sum-Rs 200/- to Rs 400/-

How to reach:

1. Take an MTR for Hong Kong station and exit from D.

2. Take Bus 70 from the Exchange Bus Terminus to Aberdeen terminus, cross the highway via subway, turn right and walk to dock for the free boat ride to the floating restaurant.

3. Take the Bus 75 from Exchange Square Terminus to Shum Wan Shuttle Ferry pier for the free boat ride.

Kung Fu Corner

On each Sunday from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, there is free weekly performance ‘Kung Fu Corner’ at Kowloon Park. The performance is very much loved by children and features traditional kung fu demonstrations by Chinese martial artists.

How to reach:

1. Take MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui station and exit from A1.

Victoria Peak

The beautiful Victoria Harbor can be viewed from Tsim Sha Tsui or Hong Kong Island side.

Cost: By Peak Tram Sky Pass Rs 355/- for Adults and Rs 155/- for Children and Senior Citizens

How to Reach:

1. Take the MTR to East Tsim Sha Tsui side or Wan Chai Station (Island side).

2. Take the Stat ferry to Central/Wan Chai/TST ferry piers.

Hong Kong Avenue of Stars

The Avenue of Stars is a 400m long promenade in Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront binding the 100 years of Hong Kong cinematic history.

How to Reach:

1. Take the MTR to East Tsim Sha Tsui station or the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui ferry pier.

World’s Cheapest Michelin-starred Restaurant

Tim Ho Wan is by far the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant in the world serving all the dishes under  Rs 700/-.

Cost: Rs 700/- (approx.) for each dish

How to reach:

1. Take the MTR for Sham Shui and exit from B1.

Explore Hong Kong Museum of history

In the ‘The Hong Kong Story’ exhibition, you see a flashback from prehistoric times to the Opium Wars, to 1960s pop culture, straight through to the return of Hong Kong to China in 1997. The entry fee is Rs 88/-.

How to reach:

1. Take the MTR for East Tsim Sha Tsui and exit from P2 and walk for 10 minutes.
